Once a 16th Century inn, the Old Angel in Axbridge is a lovely and large part-timbered coaching house which combines a sense of history with contemporary comfort.
Artisan and eclectic in style and decor (flagstone & wood floors, a fireplace or two with wood-burners, scattering of beams, stone sinks, Moroccan style wet room) there’s an emphasis on the hand built and use of natural and recycled materials.
Spread over three storeys – with 5 bedrooms/6 beds, 3 bathrooms, a first floor living room, large kitchen diner & cosy snug – the flexible accommodation offers ample indoor space to relax in peace or enjoy get-togethers with family and friends.
Hidden away from the house there’s a large secluded rear garden accessed by steps leading up to a lawned area and terraces.
En route, you’ll pass Little Angel, a small apartment at the rear of the house – which has its own separate entrance – where a friend sometimes stay. You can dine al fresco/BBQ in the shared Mediterranean style courtyard area here and the rambling garden is all yours to enjoy. There’s plenty of space for privacy.
We’d like Old Angel to feel like a real home-from-home. With a fully equipped kitchen: gas hob, electric fan oven, microwave, washing machine, dryer, fridge & freezer it’s well suited for self-catering. Feather & goose down duvets and all bedding, linen and towels provided.
Wi-Fi, TV, DAB Radio with Bluetooth, DVD player.
